2024 ELECTION

As the Middle East heats up, Nikki Haley surges in polls.

Here is what's going on: Ron DeSantis, who was formerly thought to pose the greatest threat to Trump in the GOP primary, is losing ground in the polls. An increasing number of individuals are discussing Nikki Haley as the tension in Israel erupts. Her candidacy heavily draws on her background in foreign policy.

  • Recall: Haley gained notoriety while serving as former president Trump's ambassador to the UN, where she supported Trump's historic diplomacy in the Middle East and adopted a tough stance against the international community's severe posture against Israel.

  • The buzz: According to Bloomberg, Republican Nikki Haley's presidential campaign is gaining momentum as a result of escalating international tensions. "Nikki Haley's past stance on Israel could be key to her campaign's future," the New York Times reports. Michael Strain of AEI argues in favor of Haley in the National Review.

Why it's important: The Iowa caucuses are in eleven weeks, and Trump's two main opponents are in dire need of a breakthrough performance. With Israel making headlines, Haley is in a strong position to advance because of her experience and credibility in the region.

Analyzing the odds: It's important to note that DeSantis continues to lead Haley in the majority of national polls about the race for second place. However,

  • Haley's cash on hand much exceeds DeSantis's, and she had a surge in fundraising during the final quarter. She currently has almost twice as much cash on hand as the DeSantis campaign did.

  • Haley's percentage in Iowa has jumped from 6 to 16 percent since August, according to the gold-standard Des Moines Register poll, tying DeSantis in a dead draw.

  • Haley appears to have a greater chance of defeating Biden than either DeSantis or Trump, according to the RCP average.

Despite this, Donald Trump is polling at around 59 percent for the Republican primary in 2024, making his triumph over his opponents all but assured.

President Biden's share of family business deals

Here is what’s going on: According to bank records made public by the House Oversight Committee, Joe Biden received 10% of a contract with a Chinese government-affiliated company through his family while serving as vice president.

What's fresh? The bank records provide confirmation, even though email evidence has demonstrated Biden's share of the arrangement since 2020.

  • The agreement: In 2017, the CEO of an energy business with close ties to China's military and security services was approached by Hunter Biden and his allies. Ten percent was designated for "the big guy," Joe Biden's verified moniker among relatives and business associates, according to emails obtained by Hunter.

  • Track the money Hunter handed James and Sara Biden a smaller sum of the $400,000 he received from the agreement. Sara paid Joe Biden $40,000, or 10% of the $400,000, shortly after, obligingly designating it as a "loan repayment."

Why it's important: The majority of the funds in the bank accounts utilized by the Bidens came from China. This demonstrates that the accounts' main function was to transfer money to Vice President Biden from China. They did this over the course of several weeks.

  • Zoom out: Republicans have once again demonstrated that the president directly benefited from his family's business operations, which were based upon marketing Biden's influence as the family "brand," even as he faces potential impeachment due to his foreign connections.

There's more, though: text conversations reveal that Hunter leveraged the Chinese trade by using his father. When he wasn't paid on time, Hunter said to a Chinese associate, "I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled." "We are willing to work together with the family," the businessman answered.

Soros' money goes to anti-Israel groups

Here is what’s going on: According to a New York Post study, the Open Society Foundation, which is founded by George Soros, has awarded millions of dollars to anti-Israel organizations that have organized massive nationwide demonstrations and, in certain instances, have even aided and abetted Hamas in its deadly terrorist attack on October 7.

How the money was spent: $650,000 was donated to Jewish Voice for Peace, an organization that has advocated for a second Palestinian intifada—a reference to the so-called "uprising" that is best known for its over 130 suicide bombings targeting civilian targets. Following the terror incident on October 7, JVP declined to denounce Hamas or designate them as a terrorist group. At their rallies, speakers defended the attack.

  • Additionally, it donated $450,000 to IfNotNow, an organization that supports large-scale anti-Israel demonstrations with JVP and asserts that Israel is perpetrating genocide. This demonstration included the occupation of a Capitol office building in Washington, DC.

More: Adalah Justice Project received funding. On October 7, the organization shared a photo of the demolished border wall along with the statement, "Israeli colonizers believed they could indefinitely trap two million people in an open-air prison." Nothing goes unopposed in a cage.

Why it’s important: Rather than coming from grassroots fundraising, which has become the norm for large-scale far-left social movements, this is an early hint that the funding for many of the most well-known anti-Israel groups may come from big-money donors.

On media:

  • There are indications that Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, may declare a full-scale attack on Israel during his big address on Friday. (Foundation for Defense of Democracies)

  • According to the Pentagon, American commandos are presently stationed in Israel and are assisting in the hostage-finding process. (New York Times)

  • Because rights groups worry about the safety of Afghans under Taliban rule, Pakistan plans to deport 1.7 million unauthorized migrants, the majority of whom are Afghans. (NBC News)

  • During gunfights in Gaza, Hamas reportedly directed women and children fleeing towards Israeli soldiers, using them as a "human wall." (Ynet)

  • According to the White House, there are no preparations for the US to send a peacekeeping team to Gaza. (Reuters)

  • House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has less than $5,000 in his bank account and neither stocks nor retirement plans. (Daily Beast)

  • Republican attorney general of Virginia Jason Miyares has opened an investigation into American Muslims for Palestine, a nonprofit organization, due to possible financial and fundraising ties to terrorist organizations. (Tampa Free Press)
