⬇️ Donald Trump's bond is lowered to $175 million by an appeals court in New York. A five-judge court lowered the $454 million bail that the former president was initially facing to less than half of that sum. Trump consented to make the smaller cash payment. Letitia James, the A.G. of New York, contemplated suspending some of Donald Trump's bank accounts and taking possession of some of his assets as security because it was nearly impossible to post the original bond.

✍️ Governor Ron DeSantis signs legislation prohibiting children from using social media. After passing the Florida legislature, a bill that forbade children under the age of 14 from creating social media accounts without parental permission was signed by Governor Ron DeSantis. Major social media corporations are anticipated to dispute the bill in court, claiming that it violates the First Amendment and is therefore unconstitutional.

😤 Ronna McDaniels' hiring by NBC has the talent on the network freaking out. The on-air talent at NBC was incensed by the network's hire of Ronna McDaniels, the former chair of the RNC. She was referred to as "an anti-democracy election denier" by the hosts of MSNBC's Morning Joe. The network's decision to hire McDaniels was also criticized by Chuck Todd and Kristen Welker, who said that "there's a reason why there are a lot of journalists at NBC News uncomfortable with this."

📃 A resolution calling for an urgent ceasefire in Gaza was voted by the U.N. A resolution calling for the immediate cessation of Israel's conflict against Hamas during Ramadan and the release of all Israeli hostages was approved by the U.N. Security Council on Monday. Instead of vetoing the resolution, the US chose to abstain, which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described as "a clear retreat" from the US's prior stance.
