According to the New York Post, New York City will use $53 million in public funding for a pilot program that would provide pre-paid credit cards to asylum seekers. According to the city, the program will start with 500 families of illegal migrants and is intended to assist them in buying food. Only bodegas and other food sellers are permitted to accept the cards.

Here is what's going on: Some people think that hostilities between Russia and Ukraine may soon come to an end after two years of fighting.

• Optimism: The desire for the war to stop has been expressed by both Russia and Ukraine. The chief of the Ukrainian army claims that the impasse has also resulted from the country's halting counteroffensive. Some think that the time is right for peace negotiations to progress.

The stakes for America are as follows: Zelenskyy is allegedly under pressure from certain Western nations to forward diplomatic discussions in light of a drop in U.S. financing and public support; however, he disputes this. By dispelling the notion that the world has grown more dangerous while he has been in office, ending the conflict may also aid President Joe Biden's 2024 reelection campaign.

Why it’s important: Each side is advocating for peace on entirely different terms. Russia intends to keep control of four areas of Ukraine and put in place a pro-Russian administration in Kyiv. China is funding climate alarmism against the U.S

Here is what is going on: There are substantial linkages between a climate-focused organization and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), despite the nonprofit having donated millions of dollars to environmental programs in the United States.

• The Energy Foundation: What is it? Although the organization is officially headquartered in San Francisco, the majority of its activities are managed by Chinese employees with ties to the CCP.

Dark money: According to tax forms, the group gave $3.8 million to support the use of electric vehicles and other environmentally friendly measures in the United States, such as reducing the use of coal and gas.

• Where does the money end up? The main recipients of funds are litigation and advocacy organizations with the ability to change public policy. For instance, $375,000 was given to the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), a litigation group that opposed the Keystone XL Pipeline and the drilling for fossil fuels in numerous court proceedings.

• China's concern is misplaced because, even with funding these projects, the country still emits more carbon dioxide than the entire industrialized world does.

Why it’s important: Chinese enterprises are the market leaders in green energy, accounting for a significant share of the items required for their production. China produces 75% of the world's lithium-ion batteries, which are necessary for electric cars. China has found that using climate alarmism to make America more reliant on its markets while burdening the American economy by pulling it away from less expensive energy sources has proven to be an effective tactic.
