Shapiro then attacked her for using a Bible verse to support herself, which sparked a public argument between the two on X. Here is what's going on: The House and Senate are considering a bipartisan plan that would severely restrict the federal government's capacity to monitor citizens. The administration of President Joe Biden moved quickly to denounce the measure, calling it "unprecedented" and "detrimental" to national security.

The argument: The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), a law passed in the wake of 9/11 that is scheduled to expire in December, should be renewed by Congress, according to the Biden administration. However, a group of Democrats and Republicans seek to eliminate the authority of Section 270 by mandating court orders for the majority of monitoring operations.

• Additional reforms: The law would also need warrants in order to purchase personal information from private businesses or utilize phone monitoring technology. Additionally, it would be simpler to penalize federal spies who misuse government databases containing private information and to sue the government for improper searches or monitoring.

Why it's important: Both sides of the political spectrum are concerned about the extensive surveillance apparatus that was established in the wake of the 9/11 attacks and was initially designed to target foreign adversaries.

• Abuse by partisans: The FBI is well-known for breaking FISA regulations in order to surveil the 2016 campaign of the former president. Furthermore, the Biden administration unlawfully surveilled thousands of Trump supporters, despite maintaining that it needed these capabilities to protect the country from foreign threats.

• In recent memory, one FBI office even looked into Catholics who worship in Latin and take their faith seriously. Biden's Justice Department even classified parents who expressed concerns about their children's schooling as potential domestic terrorists.

• What do they perceive? Without a warrant, the spy community may already buy sensitive online data or access private emails and messages. Legislators have pointed out that even in those cases, courts regularly condemn the government for breaking its own surveillance policies.

The biggest crowd of Jews in America

Here is what’s going on: Recently, about 290,000 people gathered at the National Mall to demonstrate in support of Israel, in opposition to antisemitism, and in support of the hostages held by Hamas. At the largest gathering of American Jews in history, politicians from both parties showed up to show their support.

Bipartisanship: Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and Senator Joni Ernst all spoke at the rally, demonstrating support for Israel from both Democrats and Republicans.

No issues: There were no angry or violent shouts, graffiti, or acts of violence during the event. No one's face was covered by attendees. It stood in stark contrast to some instances of recent anti-Israel demonstrations, one of which was held in Washington, D.C.

• More: At the gathering, proponents of Israel also showed a great deal of American patriotism. There were numerous American flags there, people were singing the National Anthem, and "USA" chants could be heard.

Low coverage: There was not enough coverage of the rally. Additionally, several reports either downplayed or ignored the historic number of people by using terms like "thousands" or "tens of thousands" rather than the more precise "hundreds of thousands."

Why it’s important: Pro-Palestinian protests are frequently covered by media outlets, and they frequently turn violent. However according to polls, the majority of Americans favor Israel, and the most recent large-scale march in Washington, D.C., reinforced this view.

The NSA goes full-woke

Here is what’s going on: According to a leaked document, the National Security Agency (NSA) maintains a glossary of terminology that illustrates the agency's extreme leftist stances on gender, racism, and social justice.

• LGBT ideology: Along with difficulties like "heterosexism," "cissexism," and "transmisoginy," the lexicon defines "agender," "bigender," "cissexism," "demigender," "pangender," "same gender loving," and others as viable identities. Additionally, it says that genders are "Assigned" to persons "At Birth."

• Grievance politics: The NSA wants to teach its agents about "microaggressions," "white fragility," "intersectionality," and other concepts. "Privilege group[s]" is defined as "Whites, men, owning class, upper-middle class, heterosexuals, gentiles, Christians, [and] non-disabled individuals." Additionally, the agency defines "racism (cultural)" as a crime that only white people commit.

• Supporting discrimination: Whereas equality means providing the same to all, equity means recognizing that we do not all start from the same place and must acknowledge and make adjustments to imbalances, the document says.

• America is evil: According to the NSA, the country's current "neocolonialist" system oppresses minorities. The glossary states that "white European occupations of land in what is now the United States" marked the beginning of this.

Why it’s important: The NSA gives the American military intelligence and performs widespread surveillance. Today, hate for the very nation that one of the most powerful government agencies is supposed to defend and divided beliefs are influencing it. These disclosures will heighten worries that the left is using President Joe Biden's agencies as weapons or that activist causes are taking center stage.
