Republican Candidate for 2024 Proposes Constitutional Amendment
There are currently a lot of Republicans who are standing for the primary election in 2024. Donald Trump is in a league of his own as the clear front-runner. However, anything could take place before the polls open. Vivek Ramaswamy, a successful entrepreneur who is also known as the anti-woke CEO, is an example of an unexpected contender.
Ramaswamy is competing against high-profile individuals such as Trump and Nikki Haley. However, because he is on the outside looking in, he is able to make comments that can really upset the apple cart. His most recent demand may fundamentally alter the voting process. But I have a feeling that a good number of people in the United States agree with it.
This really is a fascinating development! Democrats are attempting to decrease the voting age to 16, which would allow stupid youngsters to interfere with our elections. On the other hand, Ramaswamy proposes an amendment that would increase the number of official voters to 25.
He is of the opinion that voting should only be done by educated citizens. Raising the age limit to 25 would put the majority of high school students and a significant number of college students out of work. Voters who are 25 years old or older almost certainly already have jobs, are contributing to the tax system, and are shouldering duties of some kind.
Teenagers might not be the best choice to represent our interests; perhaps they have a more mature perspective on the matter. However, Ramaswamy does not want to prevent people who are 18 years old from voting provided they can demonstrate that they are knowledgeable about the issues.
U.S. citizens who have served in the armed services or as first responders, and U.S. citizens who pass the same civics test offered to immigrants, will be eligible. When you give it some thought, it’s not such a horrible idea.
Protests were held by young people in the past, requesting that they be allowed to vote at the age of 18. Their line of reasoning was that people as young as 18 can be drafted into the military and give their lives for their nation. On the other hand, there hasn’t been a draft in decades. And the vast majority of people who are 18 years old do not serve in the armed forces. It’s possible the voting age needs to be raised or lowered.
