WASHINGTON D.C
The White House censoring economic concerns
Here is what’s going on: As to the Washington Post, the White House is collaborating with TikTok producers to share uplifting tales about President Joe Biden's economic achievements, and simultaneously utilizing social media platforms to refute false information.
Catch up: A TikTok user's complaint about a $16 McDonald's dinner was one of the factors that led to this censorship and propaganda campaign.
Who's investigating: The Post reports that in front of the 2024 election, the White House Office of Digital Strategy has started monitoring "exaggerated" posts concerning the economy. Additionally, this office handled COVID-19-related censorship, which led to a First Amendment lawsuit against the prior director of the office.
Why it’s important: According to polls, the majority of voters think that Biden's policies are to blame for the weak economy and that this will be a major factor in deciding their vote in 2024. This is a dangerous combination for Biden's reelection campaign.
Thus, instead of addressing their concerns, the Biden administration is now trying to silence them in an effort to influence the election by regulating the internet's information flow.
What false information? Even the Washington Post acknowledges that prices have increased under Biden for commonplace goods like fast food. The White House is notable for its history of disparaging statements it knows to be accurate or incorrectly classifying information as false.
Zoom out: A lawsuit that might put a stop to the federal government's cooperation with internet platforms to suppress opinions has been accepted for consideration by the right-leaning Supreme Court. The court is permitting this to go on for the time being.

Why many celebs were sued for sexual assault?
Here is what’s going on: Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses, actor Jamie Foxx, hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs, NYC Mayor Eric Adams, and other well-known men were sued in New York this week for claimed decades-old sexual assault and harassment.
The time was not by accident: The claims were filed prior to the Adult Survivors Act of New York law expiring on Thursday, so the timing was not coincidental. The law, which took effect on November 24, 2022, allowed adult survivors, regardless of when the alleged occurrences may have occurred in the past, one year to bring civil abuse and harassment claims. The intention of waiving the statute of limitations was to acknowledge that survivors may have been prevented from coming forward in the past by the trauma they experienced.
The first person to be sued under the legislation was former President Trump. He was forced to pay writer E. Jean Carroll $5 million in damages after it was determined that he had sexually abused her in the 1990s. The charges are refuted by Trump and other men who were named last week in litigation.
According to the AP, the majority of the 2,500+ lawsuits filed under the Adult Survivors Act in the last year have accused abuse at state and local jails, despite the celebrity cases grabbing attention. A number of enterprises, such as airports, spas, and healthcare systems, have been accused of harassing their clients.
Zoom out: A few other jurisdictions, like California and New Jersey, have also implemented "lookback windows" that lift the statute of limitations for allegations of sexual assault for a certain period of time. New York is one of them.—NF
